Work History:
2013 - Present: Stewardess / Cook / Deck
Working on various vessels from 25-48m yachts (sail and motor) predominately as a Stewardess, but also taking on all roles when in yard periods or on some Sail Yachts. I have spent time on the French and Italian Coasts, around the Balearics, Greek Islands, Newport, San Diego and Florida - and of course home in New Zealand (where I currently are due to that virus thing racing through a bit of the world)
2002-2012: Planet Seadoo Ltd
Starting with an empty building and an idea I set up, opened, and managed NZ’s #1 BRP Seadoo Watercraft Store for 6 consecutive years. While working at the shop I was in charge of stock, ordering, accounts and customer service. Having created our brand I then utalised my Signwriting company and the skills it had afforded me to ensure when people didn’t just think Seadoo’s they thought “Planet Seadoo”
To ensure I understood the product fully I completed the BRP Master Tech Seadoo Training (one of the first in NZ to complete this)
In the winters, when things were quieter, I raced the Endurance / Offshore Watercraft series on XP’s, RX’s, RXP’s and RXT’s. Courses would range from 40 - 100 Miles. After years of racing Downhill MTB’s and a couple of seasons swinging on Road Race Side Cars it seemed like a natural carry on. As the craft got bigger and heavier I finally realised that I am as people kept saying - little, so retired from racing.
1997-Present: Off the Planet
After spending a number of years pushing out huge Nationwide Corporate Signage projects and small one off signs, I followed an Pro Installers suggestion and went out on my own. I am a complete vinyl application specialist and take on all or any projects especially if they have challenges to work through - logistical, time, not done before.
This role has got me putting signs halfway up the top of the Sky tower spire, hanging from the side of many High Rise building, wrapping buses in remote towns of Aussie before the 2000 Olympics, wrapping Americas Cup yachts then spending the rest of the regatta branding the Teams Support vessels and sails, wrapping a High Performance Racing Yacht in chrome then stone guard, resurfacing inside and out a 23m motor yacht in Roses, Spain and more recently working through the set up of the Helloworld Nationwide Rebrand including completing a fair number of the signs and wrapping the walls and windows of the Auckland Uni Hall of Residence - Waipukaruru.
Having a 1200 wide vinyl cutter opens up another avenue of vinyl work also - should anyone need one of signs or back up cutting for large scale projects.
…then there were the other times in between : Hospo
The Commons, Takapuna - starting when this Restaurant opened for 2 summers while I transitioned from the Seadoo store. Mainly Front of House for the a la carte and degustation sections of the restaurant. During busier periods I was called on to run the Passe.
Some of the older restaurants I worked in many in my 20’s - blasts from the pasts for a few of you maybe…
Mikano’s, Hammerheads, Varicks, R’Totos, Touche, 50/50, Black Gecko - mainly waitressing but occasionally I was in the kitchen.
